Amazon Makes It Easier to Track FBA Shipments from China

If you don’t use one of Amazon’s shipping-carrier partners to get your inventory from China to the US, you may now be able to allow Amazon to track those shipments anyway. Amazon introduced “ShipTrack” carriers, “which automatically provide end-to-end tracking information in Seller Central.”

In Monday’s announcement, Amazon said it vetted ShipTrack carriers, whose tracking helps it predict when sellers’ shipments will arrive at Amazon fulfillment centers and will generate more accurate estimated delivery dates for customers. Presumably that could help sellers get better visibility on Amazon.

“Better shipment tracking also helps you to make informed replenishment decisions and reduce your overstock cost and understock loss,” according to Amazon. “When you use a ShipTrack carrier, information on your shipment’s progress is automatically provided to Amazon and available on the Shipment Summary page.”

While it’s available to merchants who use FBA in the US effective today (August 21, 2023), Amazon said ShipTrack carriers will also be available for FBA shipments from China to Japan and the EU by the end of the year.
